A Snowy Longwood Garden Engagement Session.
So what do you get when you mix 2 amazingly beautiful people in love, freezing cold temperatures, a little snow and bright bright sunshine? You get breath you can see, love you can feel and…well OK, you get cold fingertips. But just a little.
Brittany, Marc and I met up at Longwood Gardens to 26 degrees. We weren’t sure how comfortable we’d be outside for any extended period so Longwood really was the perfect place to pull off a January engagement session. OK, nearly perfect. I had put an order in for 4 inches of snow and only about 1.5 fell. And Marc had visions of water fountains that were off because of the freezing temps. Still, we needed a place that represented this outdoors couple. Too bad they don’t allow dogs for photography (then it really would have been perfect)!
We all were pleasantly surprised by how pleasant it was out there. Maybe it was the brisk pace and acreage we covered, but I think it was the good company and fun we were having! Seriously… the most I’ve laughed in a session in a long time!
For example… We were walking around inside the main arboretum when we fell upon the children’s garden area. Marc, without skipping a beat was up on a ledge opening his mouth for the pulsing water fountain to aim so that it was going in his mouth. A second later, Brittany was up there joining in the fun. Just as the water started to spray across and behind them, it hit Brittany square in the back of the head. We were all laughing so hard that I only got one photo that was in focus. Thankfully it was the one I show below.
I am often finding myself amazed at how lucky I am by the couples I get to work with. To say I absolutely adore this couple and can’t wait for their wedding day, is an understatement!
Love these, great use of light!
Very pretty photos. I love the one of them in the archway.
I like your creative use of flare in the first series of shots. Very nicely done.
An utterly gorgeous set of photographs Shari. It’s like watching a film unfold in front of the eyes. You’ve worked fantastically well with the light.
Oh what a fun session! The light is just stunning, can’t wait to see what you do at their wedding!
Very pretty photos. I love the one of them in the archway.
Shari, these are beautiful. Gorgeous light helps, of course, but even the most fantastic light and beautiful couple needs a talented photographer – they definitely found one in you! Can’t wait to see their wedding photos.
Shari, I am absolutely in love with that last shot. So dramatic and romantic!
I agree with several others–the top pictures are awesome and are my favorite. Great black and white pictures.
I love those top three sepia photos with the rim light. Very nice! I also like the middle one of the other three sepia photos.
Great light and such a cute couple. Lovely images.
AHHH, Shari, those top three with that light are so gorgeous! And I actually really like that you put them in black and white since it’s an unexpected change from sunflare almost always being in color.
Great set of engagements!! They looked like they were a blast to hang out with! Awesome work as always Shari! (Really love those first 3!!)
Great set, love your style; very clean and consistent! Great job.
The first series is my fav, I love the style and could picture it hung. Love your work.
Beautiful style of photography you have.

One of my favorite places (I practically grew up there). Nicely done, especially under the crazy winter conditions!
Nice job on this whole shoot!
gorgeous as usual Shari! I’m a teensy bit jealous of the snow.
