A Beautiful Bear Creek Mountain Wedding in the Pocono Mountains.

Every once in awhile I do something (even when it’s for someone else) that I have such good and wonderful feelings about, that I just have to share.  Such is the case here.   Mike McNett told me about a wedding that he was shooting at Bear Creek Mountain Resort in Macungie, PA.  I hadn’t been up there since I was a kid…and then it was called Doe Mountain.  It’s changed quite a bit since then.  Anyway, I jumped at the chance to tag along and second shoot with him.  Some of you may already know we’ve teamed up on quite a few together now and I always enjoy working with him.  Thanks for having me along, Mike!

I’d be remiss if I didn’t share something with you besides a few images from the day.  The staff at Bear Creek Mountain Resort were outstanding… I mean above and beyond great.    The Wedding Coordinator for this event was Lisa Geiger.   She never missed a beat and was more than on-top of things.  I’ve seen quite a few coordinators and she stands out as one of the better.  The food and service were amazing too, thanks to the capable hands of Jonathan and Jenny.  I was very pleasantly surprised by how organized and pleasant the entire staff was.  Right down to the porter who made sure I never ran out of cranberry juice.  It may seem like a little thing, but if they did that for one of the other vendors, imagine how they took care of the guests.   Indeed it seemed to be the way things are just done there.  I look forward to the next event I get invited to shoot there!

The wedding.  It was an absolutely beautiful ceremony, complete with sun spilling in beyond the soon-to-be snow covered slopes and my own favorite wedding temperature: 65 degrees!!  There was enough positive energy in the crowd to warm anyone who may have preferred warmer temperatures, I’m sure.   It was really really perfect.  Lauren was so beautiful and elegant and Jason looked so calm and collected.  My favorite moment actually occurred as the processional was starting.  Both the the flower girl and the ring bearer were not feeling well and just as they got to the back line of chairs the ring bearer decided he didn’t want to go.  He was held up by one arm and bounced down the aisle off one foot for the remainder of the walk.  We were all laughing and enjoying the good-natured fun.  It was too cute!!

Lauren and Jason.  Just beautiful.  Inside and out.  Thank you for having me along.  May the rest of your lives be as blessed as your wedding day was.

These are such lovely images. Superb lighting, love them!

Beautiful work! I love the lighting on the ceremony! And I have to say, you are wrong! You are a great writer! 🙂 Keep it up! Your words help make the description of the day even more beautiful and just adds to your photos!

Gorgeous work, Shari. What a beautiful wedding, the location looks fantastic and wow! that light!

I always enjoy looking at your work, Shari, there’s always such beauty and emotion shining through in everything you do.

These images are stunning – I agree with the others, the lighting is wonderful. Nice words too.

I love how warm the first images are. The wedding looks very beautiful – I love the shot from when you are on the balcony – their expressions are priceless.

Another beautiful job. Amazing, creative & modern work.

Superb lighting on that dance image and the details shots are exquisite.

That’s my great dangling act, Kat. Have you not heard of it? I’m lowered in by rope and harness… In this case I was on a balcony though. 🙂

Gorgeous! I love the first ceremony pic. And I’m puzzled over the second one, where they’re walking back down the aisle – where WERE you? Is there an overhang/balcony up there?

Great job! I love the shot of the people trying to peep into the room……priceless photo!

Stunning shots, magical lighting – very nice!

A brilliant story Shari, in words and in pictures. It is very telling indeed isn’t it when a venue looks after everyone so well, not just providing the bare contracted minimum to those that are paying them. Aside from the fact that ultimately it makes good marketing sense to treat everyone well (it gets mentioned on Web site features like this one for a start!) it’s invariably a sign of folk who are basically just decent minded. I’m loving the way you treated the opening shoe and dress details; the manner in which you’ve kept the shade low key is really warm and evocative (it’s all too tempting to brighten such things up in a blaze of high key light, which itself can make for great imagery but here you’ve created something cosy that draws me in :~) Everything else has been trated beautifully too!

i love those ceremony shots !

Amazingly warm tones on the whole set! Beautiful!

Fantastic work. The father daughter dance looks so special. I’m not from a snowy area so it took me a while to figure out what the ski lifts were HAHA.

beautiful work Shari! the light during the ceremony looks magical

Beautiful shots. The lighting really gave you a feel for the intimacy of the day and the shots of the kids are fantastic.

Beautiful work, Shari! Really love the lighting.

Beautiful! I love the way you’ve used the light in these shots.

The shot of flower girl is adorable. I love the wide angle shot of the ceremony; the colours look great there. Nice work!

Awesome looking wedding! That little girl is just too adorable!!!
